A definitive response to atheism

Posted on May 29th, 2007 by Sana
Atheism is the claimed belief that there is no God.  Recently, I was watching a Nightline story which featured a group of Christians debating with a group of athiests with a mixed crowd of both atheists and Christians looking on.  At the end, nobody's mind had changed.  I realized while watching, that the Christians were making the mistake of attempting to prove the atheists wrong by use of the Gospel.  Unfortunately, proving somebody wrong using the Gospel involves the necessary requirement that the opposing party accept the Gospel as a legitimate work of history; which the atheists did not.  Therefore, I felt it my duty to share my own views on this matter in what I believe to be a completely logical and non-faith based, scientific manner.

THERE IS A GOD BECAUSE:

(1)  If we accept the Big Bang theory to hold true, as well as the laws of physics, then where did the original particle that expanded into the universe come from?  The laws of physics, which, as far as we know, hold true throughout the entire universe, state that matter can neither be created nor destroyed; therefore, the conclusion must be made that for there to be a beginning of the universe, there must be something that is not influenced by the universe, which means that there is something other than a physical being that exists in a different realm.

(2)  All creation must have a creator.  The fact that a sculpture exists attests that something or someone must have created it.  The argument might be brought up at this point that if God created the universe, then who created God?  The answer to that question is a matter of belief and is irrelevant to the matter at hand because it does not disprove the existence of a creator to the universe and humanity.  I am not trying to prove that God as portrayed by any of the religions actually is that way; I am simply confirming that there must be a creator, or, God.

(3)  We do not have power over the universe.  A seed growing is a good example. A seed grows because that is what it is programmed to do.  We do not make a seed grow into what it becomes.  We may possibly give it the conditions it needs to grow, but we do not, in any way, cause the seed to grow.  A seed can grow whether or not a person helps it along or not.  It is part of the seeds programming to grow.  Therefore, because we do not have power even over this little seed, it must be accepted that something before us programmed it to grow.  The answer cannot be evolutionary because evolution takes place over many millions of years.  In order for a seed to have evolutionarily learned to grow would have resulted in the extinction of that species before it could successfully learn, so a creator must have infused that seed with the power to grow.

There are a few other proofs and ideas that I have come up with regarding the existence of God.  Everything that I have written here I came up with on my own.  It is possible that somebody else has similar ideas to mine and they might be published, but I did not read them.

The main point is that there must be a God simply because of a preponderance of evidence.  No, you can't touch Him, no you can't taste Him, no you might not be able to feel Him, but the preponderance of evidence remains.  Atheism is actually a different perception of God.  At its core, the atheist movement is simply a rebellion against what can be called the conventional beliefs regarding God as an infinite and all-wise deity.  A better term for what atheists really are is differentheists, they simply have a different perception of God than what the people of religion might perceive.
